Hi there,
Great site you have here!
I wasn’t able to comment on the story itself as comments are closed, but the Historic Fire at Goldblatt’s in Mount Prospect has some erroneous information in it you might want to correct.(https://chicagoareafire.com/blog/2013/03/historic-fire-goldblatts-fire-in-mt-prospect-1977-pt3/ and parts 1 and 2).
Goldblatt’s was a main anchor at the open-air Mount Prospect Plaza, which is on the corner of Rand Road and Central Road. A K-mart was built in its place, which still stands today (not as a K-Mart but behind the mall as an American Express call center).
Some of the photos claim Goldblatt’s and the fire was at Randhurst Mall, which it wasn’t.
The main anchors at Randhurst Mall in 1977 were Carson Pirie Scott; Montgomery Wards; and Wieboldt’s.
I know this as I was raised in Mount Prospect, and the Illinois Digital Archives back my claim up: http://www.idaillinois.org/digital/collection/mountpro001/id/1170
Thanks and keep up the good work!
