Bill is correct, definitely one of the 144 footers. The original German designation of this type was “Drehleiter DL-44”. Thanks for sharing the photo!

Chicago had purchased 4 of those rigs, the 1959 models had 100-foot aerials and the 1960 models were 144 feet. I am guessing that the rig in the photo was one of the 144-foot models after being taken out of service as both the 888 oscillating white lights are already missing as well the the two red football lights. The 144-foot ladders were out of service by 1976. Their last assignments were to Truck 8 and Truck 2. They were originally assigned to Truck 3 and Truck 39 when Truck 39 was located at 25 S Laflin, Engine 103’s current house. The two 100 footers were also taken out of service by 1977.
