The new towers look really awesome, thanks for sharing the photos!
Also good point with the E-One 134 ft Bronto platforms. Not sure of the price, but definitely would make more sense to purchase a stick with a basket on the end these days than a classic aerial like the Pierce Aerial Tower.

Excellent photos everyone! Nice to see all the new showcased apparatus from here working their first fire. It’s also crazy to see the large amount of shops spare engines operating on the scene. Is it of coincidence that they are O.O.S. for maintenance or is the engine fleet also getting in pretty poor shape?

Just think if they still had 6-7-1 this fire would of been struck at 10am!

It didn’t take long for the new tower. To see action.

I’m surprised that the Reserve Snorkel at Engint 35’s house wasn’t special called like it usually is. Perhaps it was in the shops for service. I am glad that they decided to make use of Aerial Tower 1’s waterway.
I have mentioned this before but I think that sometime in the future it would be worth it for the Chicago Fire Department to purchase one or two of the 134-foot Bronto Skylift platforms that Emergency One markets in America. The Skylifts could be used to replace the aerial ladders at Truck 1 and 3 or perhaps 1 and 6. The 134-foot platforms make more sense and are safer than having a 135-foot aerial ladder like Chicago had in the 1980s and 90s at Trucks 1 and 3.

Yes Brain Aerial Tower 1 is the only company that has a straight aerial with a pre-piped waterway. There is a spare 1988 E/One 135-foot aerial with one also and it was the previous rig assigned to Aerial Tower 1. Truck 3 had a Pemfab/E/One 135-foot with a prepiped waterway that was a 1983 model, however it was totaled in an accident around 1995 and was replaced by a conventional ladder without the piping.

Is aerial tower 1 the only straight stick with a piped water way in cfd?

Quite possibly 6-4-6, too. It was on scene.

What is the spare doing in the vacant block with no lines in or out.
And why do they tie usually the lines to the engine with rope or webbing.a

Great shots. Thanks. I believe this is the maiden fire for 6-7-3 as well. I know she made one scene before but I think this is the first time she was actually used.
