tower 5 has been pretty good so far no major issues to speak of was built before ALFs quality took a hit

Tower 5 was an emergency purchase. It originally had a pump which was removed Ecuador none of the trucks have pumps. I can’t comment on reliability but I do remember them calling on the radio a couple years ago they needed their engine to meet up with them because they had an electrical fire in the cab.

The CFD seems to have gotten a pretty good return on Tower Ladder 5. Does anyone know how it compared to the other tower ladders service wise and why they only purchased one ALF? Thanks in advance.

Yes Eric, the towers carry at least a 25′-50′ length of 1 3/4 in the basket with a nozzle. There are 1-2 1 3/4 discharge’s by the monitor. They can use it for what’s shown or companies can lead off a line from the basket into a building.

Did Tower 5 also have a line run up to its basket? That is the first time I can remember seeing 2 streams coming from a basket in Chicago.

Both E8 and T4 have the Chinese symbols for their respective numbers alongside the English numbers on the rigs

Engine 8 is housed in chinatown. I believe that is the Chinese symbol for 8

What does the symbol in front of the 8 in the photo of Engine 8? I have seen it several times in photos, but never known what it stands for. Thanks!
