The Huntley FPD has taken delivery of their new 103′ SpartanERV quint.
Delivery photos are HERE.
Huntley’s Pierce quint was purchased by the Shavertown Fire Department in Pennsylvania.
On Saturday July 21 2013 at the recommendation of the truck committee the fire department unanimously voted to purchase a used 2002 Pierce Dash 105? quint with a 2000 gpm pump and a 500 gallon water tank this apparatus will replace our current quint which we were rapidly out growing as our community changed and as well as running as first due truck company with Back Mt. Regional Fire. This apparatus will be place in service in early October as we will be receiving this truck in September.
Thanks Kevin

Just curious as I’ve been out of the fire service for a while now, but you used to figure you could get 15-20 years out of a rig. Now it seems like most local departments are replacing rigs that are only roughly 10 years old. Are they just getting too expensive to fix?
