Today, we had our first open house in many years. Many of our members put a lot of hard work into putting this on. We had numerous booths that people could visit along with a complementary hot dog and chips. We also did an auto extrication demo, fire extinguisher demo, and lastly a side by side live burn demo. I attached numerous photos from the event.

Final 2012 burn-down for Woodstock FPD

The Woodstock Fire Protection District completed their burn downs of the model homes that were offered to them after the development failed. Previous posts outlining the training and burn-downs can be found HERE. This final installment involved a five-unit townhouse off of Route 47 (S. Eastwood Drive) north of Lucas Road. On Friday morning the 28th of December, firefighters loaded each of the units with straw and wood before setting them on fire. A small crowd was on-hand to observe the inferno, including Tim Olk and Larry Shapiro, both of whom photographed the event.

National Night Out – Berwyn

[Last night] was Berwyn’s annual National Night Out. It’s where the local police and fire departments come out and do demonstrations and show off their equipment. I snapped a few pictures of the live burn and Berwyn’s new 2012 F-350 Ford utility truck 912.
