This from Eric Haak:
The Chicago Fire Department responded to this fire in the 1900 Block of West Devon at 0330 on Sunday morning (2/15/15). It was eventually elevated to a still and box alarm and companies went defensive. What you can’t see in the images is that the building was a t-shape and had a fairly large extension off the back of the building. Police did rescue one resident who was transported to a local hospital. Temperatures were around zero degrees causing everything in the vicinity to ice over. I took the opportunity to take some images of a few engine companies I don’t often get to shoot.

Excerpts from the Chicago Tribune:
Two people including a firefighter who slipped on ice were injured during a Tinley Park house fire fought in frigid conditions Thursday afternoon, officials said.
Firefighters were called to the 16000 block of Fairfax Lane in Tinley Park about 12:45 p.m., said Assistant Fire Chief Kris Dunn. As they arrived, firefighters saw heavy fire coming from the first floor and attached garage of the residence, Dunn said. On the way to the fire, firefighters received a call that there could be someone trapped inside but that turned out not to be the case, Dunn said.

Tim Olk and Josh Boyajian were on-scene at Chicago’s 2-11 Alarm fire Friday at 2521 W.45th Place. The Chicago Tribune reports that the site of the fire is a crime scene.
A woman who had been stabbed several times was found by firefighters in a building that was set on fire on the Southwest Side Friday afternoon, police said.
Firefighters were called around 1:50 p.m. to the fire in the 2500 block of West 45th Place, according to Police News Affairs. A 2-11 alarm was called as the fire spread to several buildings, officials said. In one of the buildings, firefighters found the body of a woman, in her 50s, who had been stabbed several times, police said. She was dead on the scene, police said.
Authorities said it appeared the fire had been started in the building where the woman was found.
The woman was identified as Lucy Wrobel, 51, of the 2500 block of West 45th Place, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Her cause of death was pending an autopsy scheduled for later today.

Chicago firefighters responded to a fire in a commercial building at 1008 S. Kilbourn Avenue this morning around 8AM. They encountered fire in the center of a one-story, 100 x 125 brick building which burned through the roof. The fire was upgraded to a 2-11 Alarm before being brought under control.
The Chicago Tribune has a brief article HERE which states among other things that …
The building, a factory, was occupied at the time the blaze started, but everyone got out and no injuries were reported.
Jeff Rudolph was at the scene and submitted several images which depict the cold temperatures and the large volume of snow on the ground that firefighters had to contend with.
