House fire in Orland Park, 8-7-24

Excerpts from patch.com:

The Orland Fire Protection District received multiple reports of a garage fire in the 8900 block of Oakdale Court Wednesday just before 5 p.m. On arrival, firefighters found heavy fire coming from the garage of a single-family home, with flames spreading into the second floor bedroom and attic.

Firefighters made a blitz attack to bring the blaze under control and extinguished a fence on fire between the garage and a neighboring house.

The residents escaped through a rear door.

A full still alarm was called for additional personnel and equipment at the scene and to backfill Orland stations. One firefighter was transported for heat exhaustion and treated at a local hospital before being released.

The home is currently uninhabitable and the fire is under investigation by the Orland Fire District Origin and Cause Team.

Other departments providing station coverage and manpower were Palos, Tinley Park, Palos Heights, Lemont, North Palos, Homer, and Mokena.

House fire in Orland Park, 11-7-22

Excerpts from suburbanchicagoland.com:

The Orland Fire District responded to a 911 fire call on the 9800 block of Avenida Del Este at 10:41 PM Monday evening.

Multiple 911 calls were received for an unknown type fire in the area, that is suspected to have begun from a shed adjacent to the home. Battalion 6 arrived on the scene and found heavy smoke and fire coming out of the a shed which was located adjacent to a tri-level home.  The fire had already extended and was spreading into the second floor attic. The homeowner, who met fire companies in the driveway and advised that everyone was out of the house, was alerted by an unknown person that saw flames and kept banging on the door until the resident answered. Multiple crews from the Orland Fire District on scene were assisted with fire control, search and rescue, and overhaul.

Orland Park police assisted by alerting neighbors in another adjacent home and relocating them to safety. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time. The Orland Fire District is being assisted with the investigation by the MABAS 19 investigators as well as the Orland Fire District Origin and Cause Team.
