A home in Hoffman Estates caught fire .

The Hoffman Estates Fire Department was called to a home in the 1600 block of Glen Lake Road at about 8:55 a.m. Thursday morning after the front of the two-story property caught fire. The home’s smoke detectors were working properly. Firefighters searched the home, which was clear of people, and rescued a dog. They were able to extinguish the fire quickly.

One firefighter was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center but was later released. The home sustained an estimated $150,000 in damage
