What is Lockport going to do to replace T6? Pierce or Seagrave would have never been my first choice for a rear mount tower. There are some good rear mount towers in today’s market. I always liked the E-One and Smeal towers. Maybe try one of them? The downside is that all manufacturers have long lead times.

Hairy – Unfortunately, Seagrave makes bad trucks too. Most of what Seagrave builds is top notch.

It was in the Lockport Township FPD meeting minutes from 6-22-2022.
Item 22-46 Letter to Seagrave Fire Apparatus, LLC
After extensive number of mechanical failures, the Fire District has decided to return the Seagrave Tower to the manufacturer as we no longer have any faith in the safe operation of this vehicle on emergency incidents. Since acquiring the vehicle in March, it has been returned to the manufacturer twice for mechanical failures and has only been in service for a period of two weeks. This letter was previously approved by Trustees via email poll.
Motion by Trustee John Batusich, seconded by Trustee William Kendziora to direct the Fire Chief to draft a letter to Seagrave Fire Apparatus, LLC stating we will be returning the Seagrave Tower Ladder and requesting a full refund of purchase price. Motion carried by a Roll Call vote as follows: Trustee Batusich aye, Trustee Kendziora aye, Trustee Siegel aye, Trustee Meader aye, Trustee Randich aye. Motion Passed.

Perhaps someone is feeding me BS and under estimating the problems with the truck?
I’m certainly not arguing Dennis but why would it be in village minutes when the Lockport Township Fire Protection District is a completely different government body from the actual village?
Seagrave has a reputation for high quality and long lasting products. What issues were found on this rear mount tower?

It was posted in the village minutes that This tower is being returned to Seagrave for a full refund. A lot of mechanical problems and not safe for the members.

Doesn’t sound like the issues with the truck are as bad as made out to be. The new Lockport chief is connected to someone at MacQueen so he has to hate on Seagrave.

What’s going on with this truck? Is Seagrave making it right or what’s the future hold?

I go through Lockport about 10 times a week and always saw the old Pierce truck. Not once did I see the new tower.

Lockport had a fire last night. Heard Romeoville’s truck went. Did Lockport not have a truck to send?

I don’t even think this tower is even in the building anymore at Station 6. Someone said in a previous post that they’d hope this thing would last 20-years. Seems it didn’t even make it to 20-days…in service.

This is disappointing to hear! I spoke to one of my contacts who said this truck was delivered to Lockport then brought back to the factory to take care of some issues. Seagrave has built about a dozen of these towers now. I thought by now, the bugs and issues would have been worked out. I haven’t gained a high level of confidence in this aerial yet like I have with the Seagrave ladders and Aerialscope. Hope Seagrave gets this figured out because it’s a beautiful truck and from my firsthand experience, I always felt Seagrave is one of the elite builders.

It was described to me as numerous “moderate” issues. Apparently, multiple sensor problems that can’t get rectified is one of the problems. I don’t know about the other problems.

They just got it! What’s wrong with it?
#16 by Tim on July 3, 2022 - 8:44 PM
Word on the street is Lockport wants to send their new tower back to Seagrave for a full refund. They may invoke the Illinois Lemon Law.

Love it! You don’t see many Seagrave towers in the mid west or really west of the Ohio river. I like how Seagrave went to the rounded Aerialscope basket and got rid of that giant tree trimmer basket like Pierce has. Hope they get 20 years or more out of it.

I’ve always been a big fan of American Lafrance and Seagrave and I’m really happy Seagrave is still alive and doing well……..

mike C you’ve beat the Pierce thing to death. We get it.

Crabby – Seagrave offers the highest grade (3CR12) stainless steel available.
What happened to Lockport’s previous Tower Ladder 6? Last I heard the main and torque box had heavy corrosion on it. A worthless truck as far as I’m concerned.

What I like about SEAGRAVE is they like steel as opposed to aluminum. Not knocking aluminum but there’s just something about steel.
