This from John Tulipano:
At approximately 11:15 today (5-1-14) DuComm dispatched Darien-Woodridge FPD to a possible apartment building fire at 7723 Woodward in Woodridge, IL. As companies went en-route DuComm reported several calls; one reporting a wire on the roof sparking, and another reporting flames. First arriving companies reported heavy smoke at 11:19. Battalion 89 requested a box alarm for heavy fire in the attic space of an apartment building at 11:26, and command requested a 2nd Alarm and reported heavy fire on the 3rd floor and in the attic space of a 3-story, 50X125, occupied apartment building.

Bolingbrook also switched because they were the largest department in Division 10 and therefore shouldered much of the load when it came to training, budgeting, and personnel. They were putting up large amounts of money (that they didn’t have) to complete required training that no one else would send members to. When an incident did occur that required a MABAS specialty team response somewhere in Division 10, it was basically Bolingbrook that would respond alone.
They had some trouble switching to Division 16 because of their dangerously short manning issues, but apparently they were able to overcome that.

That’s a good picture of the 3 trucks

Tom, the fire was in Dar-Wood’s area. And if you are familiar with the geographic locations of the MABAS Div.s, 10 roughly follows 55 from Forestview/Summit area southwest to Romeoville. So I am sure that had something to do with the companies that came, wanting a certain amount from your own MABAS Division. I believe Westmont sent an engine. Lombard sent an engine on the 2-11, due on the Box to Station 88.
In talking with some Bolingbrook guys (former Div 10, now 16), they switched because they would end up in Pleasantview or Riverside on a Box Alarm change of quarters and have no clue where they were, along with the ridiculous response time. So it was decided to switch to be in a Division where they worked more closely with the members.
Just found a rundown on Emergencies Behind the Scenes page:
BOX ALARM:
ENGINE(S): LEMONT, WESTMONT
TRUCK(S): TRI-STATE
SQUAD(S): CLARENDON HILLS
EMS: LA GRANGE PARK
CHIEF(S): IMAT CHIEF, LISLE-WOODRIDGE INCIDENT SAFETY OFFICER
SPECIAL: WESTMONT 1888, PLEASANTVIEW 1528
CHANGE OF QUARTERS: BOLINGBROOK ENGINE, ARGONNE ENGINE, LOMBARD ENGINE
2-11:
ENGINE(S): BOLINGBROOK, LOMBARD
TRUCK(S): HINSDALE? OR RIVERSIDE?
EMS: LEMONT, ARGONNE
CHIEF(S): WESTMONT PLANS CHIEF
CHANGE OF QUARTERS: ROMEOVILLE ENGINE, OAK BROOK TERRACE AMBULANCE, WESTERN SPRINGS ENGINE

Downers Truck 2 is in Nebraska for warranty work. It was due on the General alarm. Engine 4 is running as Engine 2 in place of the truck.

What department had the 2nd tower?

Seems there were more Division 10 companies. Did it fall in the boundries of Darien-Woodridge then?
Quite a haul for the Riverside truck that was in your gallery in staging.
Are they due on the second alarm or were other companies a little closer not available? I would think Western Springs, Pleasantview or even LaGrange Park or Brookfield would have been closer than Riverside. Westmont has a truck, too, I believe. Downers and Naperville from division 16, as well. Lombard from Division 12 seems interesting.
I’ve learning you sometimes see a resource further away dispatched so as not to completely exhaust resources in one area.
I’d be interested in further info on how the box worked for this incident.
