Glenview firefighters were dispatched to 1701 Annapolis Drive in The Glen on Wednesday afternoon (7/27/22) at 3:30PM for a reported house fire. Companies arrived and had flames through the roof of a two-story, single-family house. A primary search of the premises was negative and a defensive attack was initiated that included several handlines in addition to elevated master streams from Glenview Truck 14 and Northbrook Tower 12 in the alley.
Heavy storms passed through the area roughly an hour before this fire was seen and there is the possibility of a lighting strike as the cause. The house had a cedar shake roof.
Companies assisting Glenview at the scene included Northbrook Tower 12, Winnetka Engine 28, Morton Grove Squad 4, Northfield Ambulance 29, and chief officers from the North Maine FPD and Morton Grove.

Arlington Heights firefighters were called to 2142 N Orchid Lane early Sunday evening (11/13/16) for a reported house fire. When companies arrived they had a fire on the second floor and upgraded the alarm to a Code 4 for the working fire. A broken water main and hoarder conditions hampered firefighters who were able to declare the fire under control in under 40 minutes.

This from Larry Shapiro:
Arlington Heights firefighters were notified of smoke coming from a house at 127 N. Evanston Avenue Thursday evening (3/17/16). First arriving units had smoke coming from the split-level house in a cul-de-sac, and the alarm was upgraded to a Code 4 working fire which brought additional Arlington Heights units plus a truck from Mount Prospect and an engine from Prospect Heights.
Companies were able to extinguish the attic fire by gaining access through a scuttle and had the fire out within 20 minutes.

Cicero companies responded to a reported apartment fire at 1401 51st Court early Monday afternoon. Arriving companies had smoke at the eaves of the three-story, frame, multi-unit building. After companies were forced out of the structure they setup for defensive operations and upgraded to a Box Alarm about 30 minutes later.
Several hand lines were used as well as master streams from Cicero Truck 2, Stickney Truck 1201, and Cicero Truck 1. There was a special call for the Forest Park tower ladder which went into service after Cicero Truck 1 was shut down. All Cicero engines were pumping in addition engines from Stickney and Lyons.
Several photographers were at the scene.

Images from Larry Shapiro of companies working at 4177 Midway Lane in Glenview (8/25) after lightning struck a house during one of several rounds of violent storms that passed through the area. Heavy smoke on arrival prompted an upgrade to a working fire response which brought Morton Grove, Niles, Northfield, and Wilmette units to supplement all of the Glenview companies.
Morton Grove Quint 4 was on the road when the call came in, so instead of going back to quarters and jumping to Squad 4 (which was due) they were told to go right to the scene. Ambulance 4 also came to bring the crew strength to five.

This from John Tulipano:
At approximately 11:15 today (5-1-14) DuComm dispatched Darien-Woodridge FPD to a possible apartment building fire at 7723 Woodward in Woodridge, IL. As companies went en-route DuComm reported several calls; one reporting a wire on the roof sparking, and another reporting flames. First arriving companies reported heavy smoke at 11:19. Battalion 89 requested a box alarm for heavy fire in the attic space of an apartment building at 11:26, and command requested a 2nd Alarm and reported heavy fire on the 3rd floor and in the attic space of a 3-story, 50X125, occupied apartment building.
