The practice I’ve seen a lot lately is wearing your SCBA mask without the protective hood. We teach in the fire service about muscle memory with performing our jobs but now it seems to be the opposite. Why would you wear your mask without the hood? If we stressing to new firefighters to wear their PPE correctly why are departments allowing this practice on the fireground.
Whatever the reason you’re wearing your mask inside the structure you should still be wearing your hood, it all goes hand in hand.
