The BFD fleet is rounding into shape after years of unusual rigs from various manufacturers. Both rigs look well thought out and hopefully will provide years of reliable service once they arrive and are placed in service. Well done.

Hairy – While appearance clearly is a big thing for you, most administrators and apparatus committees are looking at functionality as a higher priority.
Also, what department are you affiliated with where you’ve had firsthand experience with specific apparatus?

Mike c. While these issues I have about eone aren’t about quality but rather back in the day when I saw the old handles eone had it was a distinct look u knew it was an eone that’s my point

Hairy- There is nothing wrong with the handles E-One offers. It’s all about personal preference.
The strip lights is a minimal thing. There are much more significant things to focus on than these two area of the fire apparatus.

Hahahaha…… Harry, you can chose what door handles you want. I’m gonna guess you’ve never spec’ed a rig??? Same with that strip light. You don’t have to get those. Our two new ones have them. They are great. You can make them do what you want with programming.

While all u said sounds fine but truly I guess they really are not in a hurry for a rig
As for the eone I like them but 2 things I don’t like about the newer eones are the cab door handles and the led strip light between the headlights and emergency lights

Last I heard, this will be replacing E3 and their current rig will got to E1. The truck is going to 4, I’m not sure if they’ll keep the Pierce Dash CF ladder as a spare or not.

There’s a lot of reasons why Bolingbrook may not want a Fout’s rig. Fout’s makes a good product and I’m certainly not bashing them but E-One is better.
– Fouts is not a single source builder. Many departments don’t want multiple builders involved. I don’t blame them either!
– Bolingbrook may be looking for consistency throughout their fleet. Good chance that they do!
– The Spartan cab is nice but the E-One cab is better.

Which engine will this one replace? They have already replaced 2 and 5 with the last two E-Ones. Will this replace Engine 1 or 3? I am guessing the tower will go to station 4.

Well Mike c why would u not want to save the taxpayers money the fouts brothers engine has less options but at a cost of like 600 000 savings and delivery time in 4 months
Now the eone more options but price is like 1.2 million for a demo to start and as a lot of here say delivery times are high

Thanks for your ‘expert’ insight, Hairy!

Could have bought a spartan with fouts brothers back end and would have it in 4 months
