Early Sunday evening, (3/3/24) Lake Zurich and neighboring firefighters were dispatched for a fire on the rear deck of a house that was extending to the structure on Kimberly Road in North Barrington. The house is situated on a narrow street in an area without hydrants. The first engine pulled a line for the deck fire and they were subsequently nursed by the second-due engine for additional water. Lake Zurich’s third engine then did the same before the first tanker arrived with an additional water supply. The fire was upgraded to a MABAS Box Alarm for a tender shuttle, but the fire was extinguished before there was a need for a that.
A partial list of equipment at the scene included trucks from Wauconda and Buffalo Grove, a squad from Libertyville, an engine from Wheeling, ambulances from Mundelein, Palatine, and the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods FPD, tankers (tenders) from Cary, Long Grove, Libertyville, and the Countryside FPD.
