From what I am hearing, the MPGs are not that dissimilar. While the diesel may be preferred by many, the gas option is definitely becoming very popular for ambulance use and probably saves close to $9k at the onset. AND if do you puke a gas motor, it is definitely less expensive to replace the gasser vs. a diesel (which is definitely not bullet proof either).

Very true but it’s still part of the engine and many are getting tired of things not working as designed hence, the gasoline engine option.

The 6.7L Powerstroke is not the problem at all. Its the DEF and emissions systems on those rigs that are the problem. The 6.7L Powerstroke is one of the best engines ever built. The 7.3L gasser is a good engine but MPG’s will be super low.

Given all of the problems FORD is having with their quality which includes the POWERSTROKE, they figure why take that chance. The 7.3L gasoline engine seems to be one of the engines that don’t have a multitude of problems.
