Working fire in Chicago, 12-20-22

This from Chi-Town Fire Photos;

Chicago’s 6th Battalion had a basement fire at 1515 W 55th Street Tuesday night. Companies were faced with heavy fire in the basement that extended up the plumbing wall into the upper floors. Three lines were led out, and TL39 made numerous holes in the roof. These shots were about 15 minutes into the fire.

Oak Lawn Fire Department history

Fire Service news … Chief (Ret.) Bobby Halton

Chief Bobby Halton

It is with great sadness that the Fire Engineering/FDIC International and Clarion Events family announces the unexpected passing of Chief (Ret.) Bobby Halton, editor in chief of Fire Engineering and Educational Director for FDIC. Chief Halton passed away at his home in Oklahoma Monday night, December 19th, 2022. Halton served as our editor for the past 18 years. He led the editorial team and helped build the FDIC into the largest fire service educational conference in the world.

Chief Halton was a native New Yorker. He began his career in structural firefighting with the Albuquerque (NM) Fire Department and rose through the ranks to include chief of training. He was chief of operations until his retirement from Albuquerque in 2004. He then became chief of the Coppell (TX) Fire Department. Bobby left Coppell to assume the duties as editor in chief of Fire Engineering.

Chief Halton was a graduate of the University of New Mexico, left a member in good standing with the International Association of Fire Fighters, was a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, and has served on several of the National Fire Protection Association technical committees. He was active with the National Fallen Firefighters Life Safety Initiatives as well as the Firefighter Cancer Support Network. He was a passionate fire service advocate, speaker, author, and friend to so many.

Arrangements are being made at the Dighton Moore Funeral Service 116 N Main, Owasso, OK 74055.

Update on the S & B; One (1) adult transported Red to St. Anthony’s, Four (4) refusals. All companies working (2).

Update Still and Box 2822 S Keeler was struck out on the orders of 224. There was 1 building exposure at 2824 S Keeler Ave. Red Cross was notified of displaced residents. CTA warming bus is on scene. NFI (2).

One person was critically injured early Tuesday morning in a house fire in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood.

The fire broke out just before 3:30 a.m. in the 2800-block of South Keeler Avenue, and spread to the home next-door.

One adult victim was taken to Saint Anthony Hospital in critical condition.

Rockford Fire Department news

A  is in serious condition after being rescued by firefighters from a house fire on Lapey Street Sunday night.

Sunday night at 11:04 p.m., Rockford firefighters arrived on the scene, at 3021 Lapey Street, to find heavy fire coming from the first-floor window of the house. A six-year-old child was reported trapped inside. Firefighters performed a search and rescue and found the child at 11:16 p.m. The child was taken to the hospital and is currently listed in serious condition.

Four dogs were also removed from the home and turned over to the Rockford Police Department.

The building suffered heavy damage and has since been condemned.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The damage was estimated at $40,000.
