Seems like a straight squad is a poor investment in today’s age of multi use rigs and tax payers asking, “can it put my house fire out.” That rig could’ve easily been a rescue/engine instead of a straight squad.

They still have a spare ambulance if they haven’t sold it. Up until last summer or so they had the spare ambulance which is (was) kept at public works.

Cmk, I don’t believe they have any. Not sure if they still do it, but I have seen them run Hinsdale’s reserve ambo before. I think if the engine or truck goes OOS they just run the other.

What does Clarendon Hills have as far as reserve equipment? Station kind of looks to be small.

This squad is about the same size as the old one, though it has more compartment space since there is no walk-in, there are coffin compartments, compartment in the rear behind the stairs, and a transverse compartment. This one is a 4 or 6 man cab as opposed to the 2 man cab on the old one. At the end of the day, Clarendon Hills doesn’t need ,and in some cases, can’t have a squad any bigger than this given the small bays in the station. This was designed to have a short wheelbase. Clarendon Hills is a very small district, and though they do go into Hinsdale a lot and occasionally Westmont, they don’t need to carry a lot of equipment. This is a small squad compared to regular ones but it gets the job done.

I meant to say that this pierce squad does not seem to be any shorter than the old one but I have not seen it yet so I don’t know for sure but looks nice only missing a federal q

Is it me or does the new squad 86 look kind of small for a squad?
Anyway it does look nice though!

When Barbara Bush died the flags were lowered but I’m not sure if that’s the reason why they were in these photos.

Sharp looking PIERCE rigs there.
Why is the flag at half staff?
