34-year-old Peoria Firefighter Nick Riordan was diagnosed with Neuroendocrine Cancer Stage IV last summer and it spread to his liver. Peoria firefighters say he died Tuesday afternoon from the illness.

Riordan’s Facebook page is now filling up with condolences to his family. He is survived by his wife Sarah and his three children. The youngest child was born around the time he started chemotherapy. Riordan said his strength came from his family and friends.

Peoria firefighters are planning a fundraiser for the family this Saturday at Knights of Columbus, 7403 N. Radnor Rd in Peoria. The fundraiser is $15 dollars and includes dinner and live music.

here’s another recording of January 10-11 1982, as recorded by Jim Regan. This is the Englewood radio and I believe it is after midnight to shift change on the 11th. They were not transmitting extra alarms and were very short companies. Some off the wall responses and some classic radio comments to be heard. Some of the voices heard: Tim Byrnes, John Kilkenny and even a little Bob Fleckenstein. What a day this was, well worth a listen.

I’m a retired Chicago Fireman and Member of Local 2. I am currently a Certified Financial Planner, and many of my clients are current or retired CPD and CFD. My firm puts on complimentary luncheons exclusively for Chicago Area Fire and Police retirees and those within one year of retirement.

We will be hosting an educational lunch focused on Deferred Compensation Options upon retirement.
