Josh Boyajian visited Engines 73 and 125 to photograph their current apparatus in anticipation of the companies being assigned new E-ONE engines in the coming weeks.

Yeah, the poor 19th Ward. All those poor City employees living there with old fire trucks protecting them. Give me a break.

Didn’t eng 50 get into a minor fending bender recently while responding to a fire?

I think it’s cool that Chicago is getting some new engines. Josh, keep up the good work.

The captain of Engine 50 was probably at a party with someone from fleet and remarked something like “I don’t like green lights” or “I’d prefer the new engine to have a red top, not black”. As punishment, now Engine 50 will always get hand-me-downs with extra green lights attached to them.
Meanwhile, I bet the captain of 125 can recite word-for-word the maritime regulation referring to the placement of green navigational lights. Hence, the new rig.

Yeah I guess that would not be bad if Engine 50 was given Engine 125’s current rig.

Has anyone given any thought that 125’s old rig may actually be going to
Engine 50 or 121??

Why would 121 be getting 125s old rig, if they are getting a new one?

The taxpayers of the 19th ward deserve to get some new equipment such as E121, the current HME looks good only because they replaced some doors and paint. E73 is an ALS company which runs a lot so I can see them replacing this rig as well. These placements allow for some much newer or better condition rigs to be added to either the spare pool or to replace some worn rigs at other companies such E28 or E59.

It makes no sense, nor does the city care if two new engines are in the same battalion. If that were the case, T-50, T-59 and T-31 wouldn’t have new rigs in the 20th Battalion.

Anybody knows the reason Eng. 50 won’t get the rig?
#12 by Mike on August 2, 2016 - 5:42 PM
Maybe the captain at 125 has more pull at fleet then the captain of engine 50

Fellas, I compared the Shop Numbers on the new rigs, the new E-One that was marked for E50 is now marked 125. I have pictures of it. It’ll be on the site soon. 73, 121, & 125 are getting them.

Nice shots of both rigs.

So we just need to wait a little longer until things get straightened out.
Strange as it may seem it does make some sense if the rig that is numbered for 121 goes to Engine 125 instead because Engine 121 in not an ALS Engine and also because it generally speaking makes more sense to spread out the new Engines as opposed to having two of them located in the same Battalion which would have been the case with Engines 73 and 121.

was told 125 was getting 121s rig by someone at fleet

So Engine 50 is no longer getting one of the new E-Ones’?
#18 by Josh on August 2, 2016 - 12:52 PM

So it’s official. 125 instead of 121?
