Bourbonnais Fire Department news

Excerpts from the Daily-Journal.com:

Jessica Campbell, a veteran Bourbonnais firefighter died early Sunday morning in a two-car crash on 4000E Road at 2714N. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:42 a.m.

She was northbound when she rear-ended another vehicle. Cambell’s car rolled over several times. She was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. The other car crashed into a utility pole after the initial collision.

Kankakee County Coroner Bob Gessner said there were no physical indications that alcohol was involved. Illinois State Police are reconstructing the crash, which remains under investigation.

An honor guard is standing by Campbell’s body at the morgue. Campbell’s autopsy is pending.

The other driver was reportedly not injured badly.

Working fire in Lincolnshire, 8-7-16

Lincolnshire-Riverwoods FPD firefighters responded to an automatic alarm at 200 Schelter Road late Sunday morning (8/7/16) and found a generator fire in a small room outside of a metal processing company. The alarm was upgraded shortly thereafter to a Code 4 for the working fire. The flames were extinguished quickly and most mutual aid companies were returned. There was significant damage to one of the building’s generators.

Gary Fire Department history

This from Wayne Stuart:

Gary, Indiana ran this 1942 American LaFrance  750 GPM/130-GWT, serial # L-1799, model B-575CO from 1948 till the early 70’s. Originally built in 1942  for the U.S. Army Quarter Master Corp, it was assigned to the Illiopolis Ordinance Plant in Illiopolis, Illinois.  On 3/23/48 the Gary Fire Department purchased the pumper from military surplus. It ran first as Eng.2 then as Eng 5. In later years it was used as a spare rig, as seen in the photo running as Eng 12. It was disposed of in the early 70’s.
