This from Larry Shapiro:
Chicago battled a 2-11 Alarm fire with a Level I haz mat Monday (7/11/16) in a salvage yard at 3033 E. 106th Street. One tower ladder, Squad 5’s Snorkel, Engine 2, and several multi-versals were at work for several hours.

How does E2 work? Is it staffed 24/7, or is a crew called in when needed?

Always staffed, not sure the numbers though (if it is considered an engine with 5 or ?)

I believe it has a crew of 3 including an officer, engineer and firefighter and then gets supplemented by land companies from engine 13’s and 42’s house when a water emergency occurs. It has a pretty big still district and doesn’t do ambulance assists or automatic alarms

Engine 2 is looking a little rough
