Northfield Fire Rescue news

Excerpts from the ChicagoTribune.com:

A part-time firefighter in Northfield has been charged with installing a video recording device in a shower at the fire station, officials said Tuesday.

Edward T. Panicko Jr., 59, of Arlington Heights, is charged with misdemeanor unauthorized video recording and obstruction of a police officer. They said Panicko unlawfully placed the video recording device in the shower to record another fire department employee showering without the victim’s consent. Authorities said the obstruction charge stems from an allegation that Panicko falsely told police during the investigation that he had destroyed the recording device.

Panicko resigned from the fire department earlier this month after allegations of misconduct were made by another firefighter,  and he turned himself in to authorities on Monday.

Panicko had been a part-time firefighter in Northfield for nine years and is also a retired Glenview firefighter.

Box Alarm fire in Burbank, 7-28-16

This from Eric Haak:

The Burbank Fire Department had a house fire just before 7:00 p.m. on Thursday (7/28).  A mayday was called and the alarm was elevated to a Mabas Box.  I arrived 10 minutes after the mayday to give you an idea of conditions.  There were no firefighters injured during the incident and officially, I did not hear the reason for the mayday.  As you can see, the fire was pretty much out but I thought I would submit some images anyway.
