That rig was formerly Patrol 5. When the Insurance Patrol disbanded, Lombard Fire Department bought the rig and had a 65′ Memco Aerial Ladder installed and two permanently mounted deck guns. It became Aerial 1, renamed Truck 1 and then Truck 51. Several years later, LFD removed the ladder and had a diesel generator installed and it became somewhat of a utility truck and was finally given to the Lomabrd Jaycees. The Miami-Dade FR Lt, Keith Seafield’s grandfather was a Patrolman and CFD Museum had possession of the rig and they were going to scrap it but Keith had found out about, bought it and restored it. By the way, the original “FIP” bell that was mounted on this truck is still in the possession of the LFD.

The owner is a Dade Co. FD LT. who’s grandfather was a Fire patrolman. He is the author of the book on the Patrol http://www.chicagofirepatrol.com/ his restoration of this rig is well documented at http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1055675-progress-hanging-sheetmetal.html
