When will the tower be delivered to Bloomingdale? I found the broker that the 1993 Lance was sold to. The 1993 lance had over 100,000 miles on it. I believe the 1997 tower had 61,000 miles on it.

Engine 22 and Medic 22 are no longer. Medic 22 is now the Dive rig and it is housed at Station 23 with the zodiac for the time being. Station 22 has the MABAS Mass casualty trailer and the Light tower.
Mechanical reserve means it will be stripped of all the EMS and extrication equipment and most likely be put at Station 22. When one of the other engines goes in for service we will transfer equipment so it can run front line.

I was wondering about Sta. 22 myself. The only things, that I saw, in there were MABAS Trailer and (what looked like) a light tower. So, there is no more Eng. 22 and Medic 22 correct? Medic 22 is being coverted to the dive rig?
And, just to clarify, what does the term “mechanical reserve” mean, as it relates to the current Engine 20?

What is currently housed at ST. 22 then?

As of right now there are no plans to sell Station 22.
The 1991 Pierce Lance was donated to the Witt Fire Dept. (IL.)
The 1993 Pierce Lance and the 1994 Horton Dive rig were sold with the 1997 Tower Ladder to a broker.
The 2002 Horton has become the new dive rig.
The new Tower 23 has a 2000 gpm hale pump, a 300 gallon water and 30 gallon class A foam tank

They sold the 1991 Pierce Lance when they took delivery of the 2011 Pierce Impel. They sold it to some volunteer fire department downstate. I don’t know what they did with the 1993 Lance, maybe it is at Station 23 for now?
I believe they will sell the 1993 Lance at some point. I have not heard if they are going to sell the station on Kenny road. Their open house is next weekend, I will see if I can get any further information on that.

Mike, from the pictures, it certainly looks like there is a pump…otherwise there is just some weird diamond plate decorative area between the cab and the body…

Sorry I did a quick look and must not have been paying attention.

Tower 23 will be front line at Station 23,
Engine 23 (2007 Pierce) will become Engine 21
Engine 21 (2005 Pierce) will become Engine 20
Engine 20 (1995 Pierce) will become a mechanical reserve
Still up in the air if Tender 21 will become Tender 23 and respond to non-hydranted areas

So the tower is running out of its house with no engine? I apologize if this was discussed but is it a dry truck or does it have pumping capabilities

Don’t know my guess is that it will be used as a jump company just like the current tower and the 2011 pumper-tanker.

So, do we know what the plan is for this tower? Are they going to use it the same way they are using the current tower (ie. As a jump company with E23, based on the type of call is dispatched to prolong its service life or will it be used more)?
