Danny Haz Mat companies 511 and 512 are also using the American La France apparatus so they could be the last companies in Chicago to use an American La France rig as well as Tower Ladder 5.
The good thing about American La France closing is that perhaps now the Snorkel will finally start being built again by another manufacturer who is really interested in building fire apparatus instead of having the plans and specs being held (in a vault or a computer somewhere) by a company whose management really couldn’t have cared less about the fire service to begin with.

The spare box truck for the squads is Engine 23’s old ALF. The pump has been removed.

Martin, I’m in the same boat as you. I was in the area and saw Tower 5 go by. I didn’t think anything of it. Should have went to my car for my radio.
