That old video comes to mind with this topic. Distance from a fire station is no factor in a fire but at least response time is much quicker.

It’s ironic that the box Alarm in Evanston is just up the block from Station 1 or 21 to be exact. Fires within a block of fire stations are actually not that uncommon and I have seen a number of them over the years. Earlier in around June Engine 71 caught a working fire literally on the same block and on the same side of the street as the fire station.
