this was def true in the past. still issues today, yes. there is a core group of FFs and Officers that do care for the department and care for the equipment we have managed to keep. there was a huge theft issue back in the day. one major problem is that the mayor doesnt see the need for the department. it has much promise is given a chance. Homewood’s old Mack is well taken care of by the core group. most of the others dont like it cause its only 500 gallon. proper water management, you have no issues.
Brian, #1 is we need to be able to run the department they way it should be ran
#2 we need updated equipment
#3 we need manpower
#4 our current apparatus needs some issues fixed (the Mack) only has some lighting thats burned out, other then that she is tip top)
#5 we need the money thats allocated for the FD to go to the FD not village hall.
#6 i want a damn aerial! lol. the going joke was that if we got one only our shift would use it and we would lock all the compartments. haha

Really??? Ford Heights doesn’t deserve to get any apparatus from anyone! Every single piece that was donated to them, they turned around and destroyed & then scrapped! Instead of taking care of it & keeping up with the preventive maintenance, they drove those rigs into the ground!
