This from Josh Boyajian:
LaGrange had a box alarm @ 515 s Waiola. Engine 1112 had heavy smoke and fire showing O/A and upgraded to a MABAS 10 Box Alarm, which brought in companies from all over the division. Here are my pictures along with a picture of Downers Grove’s New Ambulance they just resently put into service for Medic 2.

Josh, any chance you could send me the full size pictures of our truck, Pleasantview 1519?

Is “manning” a truck really manning it when there is only a driver or 2 on it? Or better yet a jump company? My OPINION, for the suburbs, an Engine or Truck is only manned when it has at least 3 on it. I’ll assume most Division 10 towns have jump company’s to make a truck fully manned for a MABAS call. Which then leaves their own town short staffed, pending the arrival of callbacks (if the Dept’s policy allows that).

The Hinsdale Truck is a Metz, similar to Countryside FPD in Lake County. Hinsdale added the compartments to make it more Americanized. The Metz aerial is a very strong and fast aerial (total setup time and aerial speed). Not that the American aerials aren’t, but the Metz design is similar to a construction crane. They are a very different design and functionality compared to all the American ladders. The basket is also much smaller.

Hinsdales crew for 1019 can also be used for the reserve Ambo 1014 or 1015 depending what unit is front line Lagrange FD also rotates 1114 @ 1115

Interesting story with Hinsdale’s new red color scheme…part of the reason it came about is because they lost several potential buyers of their old truck (Gonzo II) because of the color.

Tom, as far as I know the MABAS 10 depts. with staffed trucks are:
Hinsdale
Pleasantview (x2)
TriState (jump between TL and the mini-squad)
Darien Woodridge
Westmont (talks about un-manning it…not sure if it actually happened)
Clarendon Hills runs their quint as first-out on fire calls (with the on duty staff…POCs take the engine, squad, and ambo).

Oh and yes Hinsdale DOES staff their TL, with 2. For m/a runs I THINK the engine’s backstep jumps to the TL, so they have the minimum 3 personnel required by Division 10

Hinsdale ordered a new ambo several months ago, mainly with funding from Manor Care Hinsdale….not sure what color scheme. But it should be here soon.

Tom, Rumors were that Roberts Park was to take over half of Willow and the other half by Pleasantview. Those rumors arent rumors anymore. Nothing will happen.

It’s a Rosenbauer Raptor 102′ Tower. And @ Tom, Western Springs still has their truck.

This site has it as a 2008 Spartan Gladiator / Rosenbauer / Central at 102 feet. It’s also their newest piece of apparatus, so far as I’m aware. All the rest of their equipment is yellow and white, so it will be interesting to see if the next in their fleet follows the red like this truck. Here’s the page: http://chicagoareafire.com/Div_10_HINS_Sta.html (You’ll need Flash to view.)

What’s the story on the Hinsdale tower ladder? German manufacture? How many feet? Does it carry ground ladders? Appears to have a narrow ladder width and a very small basket. Can’t say I have seen one like it before. Thanks in advance for any replies.

LaGrange has been using their new engine 1111, but yesterday it wasnt in service. At this fire, Companies were there from (Engines) LaGrange, Brookfield, LaGrange Park, Western Springs, Tri-State, Broadview, and Lyons. As for Truck Companies, just Hinsdale and Pleasantview. Ambo’s from LaGrange, Argonne, Downers Grove, and Willow Springs. Squad from Broadview. And then all the chiefs buggies along with Westmont’s Command Van and Pleasantview Rehab.

Is LG using their new engine yet? Was it on location? How many Mabas 10 depts staff a truck? Pleasantview… could see Darien Woodridge… How many only run their trucks as mutual aid? I would suspect Hinsdale and LaGrange Park… Does Western Springs still have a truck? Lastly, there was talk about LG, LGP, and Western Springs combining. Is that dead? Oh, and I had also heard rumor about Pleasantview taking over Willow Springs. Anyone have fresh info?

Some great looking rigs in that division! I particularly like the paint schemes for Hinsdale and Downers Grove…which look nearly identical. Thanks for the pictures.
