1970’s- Fan w E77 several times a year. Always 2nd shift about noon Sat-0800 Sun. Took the better part of a year to be trusted enough to really help at emergency scene. I am a retired Lieutenant with Normal Fire. (yeah that’s the little FD that Local #2 loaned the $30K to for personal bonds on our Captains, and returned us to work after the longest FF strike ever March- May 1978 – 56 days including 42 days in Mclean County Jail. 24 FF in local, 42 days in Jail Local 2442 how-could-ya-figure-it.) I will always have a very special spot in my heart for that old fire house. I learned many things from the members of E77 really good things that lasted throughout my career of over 28 years. (02-02-70 – 04-02-98) I am sure you remember Batt. 28 Chief Jim Nagal. The nicest, most class, Chief ever to walk this earth. WE ALMOST had him down in central Illinois after his retirement but the good Lord needed him more than us. The last 40+ years have run by so fast I can’t believe it. I hope this sees you, your family and friends in good health.
