The Lombard Fire Department received a report of a fire at 250 Cortland Ave. at about 9:15 a.m. (3/6/15) Lombard police officers were the first to arrive on the scene and confirmed there was a fire inside the building and smoke coming from the back of the building, Assistant Lombard Fire Chief Jerry Howell said. When Lombard fire crews arrived, they upgraded the incident to a special alarm fire, bringing in assistance from neighboring communities.
The fire appeared to be concentrated in one range at Article II. It took firefighters about 20 to 30 minutes to completely extinguish the fire and ventilate the building by cutting holes in its roof, Howell said.
