10/16/17 NORTH AURORA, IL – North Aurora FD Box Alarm heavy extrication crash, two vehicles under a semi trailer w/ entrapment and double medevac Orchard Rd. and I-88 – Video by Dave Weaver
Excerpts from the ChicagoTribune.com:
Two men died and three others were taken to hospitals after two cars collided with a semitractor trailer Monday at the Orchard Road Interstate 88 overpass in Kane County.
Investigators are looking into whether the collisions are related to two Aurora shootings reported between 11 a.m. and the time of the crash
Working together, detectives from the county sheriff’s department and Aurora Police Department haven’t ruled out that the shootings and crash are the result of gang violence. The colors of the cars that crashed matched the colors of the cars involved in the Aurora shooting
A Jaguar and a GMC Envoy were northbound on Orchard Road, apparently traveling at high speeds, when both cars struck the semi-trailer that was turning south onto Orchard Road after getting off eastbound I-88.
The GMC driver, identified as Christopher Shaw, 23, of North Aurora, was pronounced dead at the scene. The GMC’s two passengers, one who had been in the front and the other in the back seat, were flown to a hospital. The front seat passenger, Devonte Bouchee, 24, of Aurora, died later in the afternoon, and the back seat passenger, a 23-year-old Aurora man, had injuries that were potentially life-threatening.
The Jaguar driver, a 38-year-old Aurora man; and the truck driver, a 27-year-old from Burbank, were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries.
The sheriff’s office and Aurora police are investigating two separate reports involving vehicles chasing each other and exchanging shots in the Aurora area before the crash Monday.
Nothing was apparently hit in the first shooting, which was reported at 11:04 a.m., and the second shooting, at 11:45 a.m. along Nantucket Road and Durham Drive near West Indian Trail Road in Aurora, resulted in gunfire damage to two homes.
Authorities are asking anyone with information on the shootings to call Kane County investigators at 630-444-1103 or Aurora’s at 630-256-5500, or Aurora area crime stoppers at 630-892-1000.

7/26/17 NORTH AURORA – 2 Sisters rescued from Fox River near Lippold Park – Video by Dave Weaver
DETAILS: Two young adult sisters had to be rescued by North Aurora firefighters after the inflatable boat they were in collapsed on the Fox River near Lippold Park in Batavia. The girls who had been visiting the park were spotted hanging onto a tree that had fallen over in the Fox River next to an island adjacent to Lippold Park at the south end of Batavia at 2001 S. River St. (IL-25). The North Aurora battalion chief said the girls were lucky that witnesses saw the incident unfolding and called 9-1-1. The sisters were described as losing their grip shortly before being rescued by firefighters using the North Aurora Fire Department’s Zodiac rescue boat. The girls were brought to shore behind the North Aurora Village Hall where they were evaluated by medics before being released at the scene.

This from a CarmaChicago conversation:
Tri-Com will probably be adding North Aurora Fire and Sugar Grove Fire and Police to their covered agencies in the coming months. (http://www.tri-com911.org/DOCS/Agenda%20Regular%20030613%20(revised).pdf)
Rumor also has it that they will be adding a second fire dispatch channel, but I don’t know what the freq or PL will be for that yet. Sugar Grove PD will take the 5 series unit designators (5-paul-x, etc) when they make the switch.Dan

thanks Chris

The Kane County Chronicle has an article about a fire on Monday that:
…caused more than $400,000 in damage to a barn at Stokes Excavating at 35W160 Butterfield Road in unincorporated Batavia.
Batavia and North Aurora firefighters responded to the blaze along with other area fire departments, including Aurora, Geneva and Fermilab.
Firefighters arrived on the scene at 10:29 a.m., and had the fire under control by 12:30 p.m. The fire forced the closure of Butterfield Road between Hart/Mitchell Road and Pinecreek Drive in North Aurora.
The complete article with a video and photo can be found HERE.

When a department is added to the website, we strive for accuracy in our postings. When North Aurora was posted yesterday, we had listed several units as being assigned to the annex building. Evidently, the information we had is already out of date. We are always glad to have readers provide us with pertinent information including corrections.
Such was the case when Brian Kazmierzak of the Clay Fire Territory in South Bend viewed the site and noticed a familiar unit. He sent us a note with a photo of Clay Fire Tactical Rescue 2 (T2) which bears a striking resemblance to North Aurora Technical Rescue 540.
The Clay Fire Territory acquired the unit from North Aurora in July of 2010 and since September of 2010 it responds as part of the MABAS Division 201 Tactical Rescue Team.
Clay Fire Territory (IN) Tactical Rescue 2, formerly North Aurora Fire Protection District (IL) Technical Rescue 540.
Brian also informed us that Technical Rescue 544 (1997 Freightliner FLD/Fruehauf) is now in Aurora.
