Wauconda firefighters responded to a reported garage fire this afternoon at 26703 N. Main Street in an unincorporated area of their district. Upon arrival, units found a two-story house with heavy fire in the attached garage threatening the living space. The alarm was immediately upgraded to a 2nd Alarm bringing additional companies to the scene. Though the house has smoke damage throughout, only a small area along the garage wall was reportedly damaged by fire. Firefighters advanced two lines into the house to stop the fire from spreading. The fire was out within a half hour of the original alarm.
Mutual aid companies included Long Grove, Countryside, Fox Lake, Round Lake, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Barrington, Nunda, Lake Zurich, Cary, and Mundelein.
Larry Shapiro went to the scene and arrived as the fire was extinguished. Nevertheless, he submitted a few images of the scene and the units that responded.
