Mike C. You are correct they are all light duty applications. All I have seen is Cummins L9 Engines in each Ascendant. Can they do an X12 or DD13 (heavy duty big block engine). I would bet they are right there on weights so they have to go with the lighter weight L9/EVS 3000 Engine Trans Combo. Anyone know the answer?

Hope it serves them well

I’m with you Crabby. Have you ever look at the Pierce Ascendant components up close? Everything is lightweight. Pierce does a great job marketing these things but I’m not all that impressed.

Yeah I have to wonder about the long term stamina of those single axle configurations.

I’m not into the Pierce is better or E-One or what ever, but this seems like a major down grade from what they were running. Curious about storage and the pounding the quint style chassis will take with pump, water, ladders, gear, etc. I would think the tandem rear axles is still the way to go. Whats’ next, Freightliner pumper demos like Minneapolis runs? I smell penny pinching big time.

Will they be painting it white over red to match the other apparatus?

Mike all diesel fuel in the area is bio-diesel. Usually B11 bio but could be between B-2 up to B-20. Just because it’s B20 compatible doesn’t mean that’s what they’ll be using daily. So they’ll be filling up where they always do.

So this is a bio diesel rig. The fuel mileage is going to be worse because of bio diesel. It’s like E-85 but diesel fuel. And this is a demo also? Great decision making.
