Although it looks great,I wonder how long the paint will last on the roll up doors?

Milton
These are not finished yet and will get a white stripe down the side as the others have as well as some other cosmetic things on the outside. These will be our first engines with roll up doors and booster reels again(which were not specd on these newer engines ordered before).

Nice classic looking E-ONE there. I notice a shift to solid red. Not old school or anything just a curmudgeon.

Don’t be upset Rich. It is what it is. But God bless you, I wouldn’t want to work for the city.

The City of Chicago is not a hodge podge of apparatus. We don’t have the absolute luxury to pick a vendor and buy their products. There are rules and standards that must be met in a bid process. And we are not the entity who ultimately purchases the vehicles, that honor belongs to 2FM (fleet) and they don’t necessarily care what we think all the time. They have a way of doing things and it’s not always in line with the CFD. Then add in the law department, procurement department, etc.

Aurora is good about buying new rigs. Ever year or two years they get something new! Good job Aurora.

Out of most of the big cities Chicago has always been a hodge podge of apparatus.

You bet, Harry! Uniformity is the key to efficiency! Efficiency with operators, maintenance, and the department as a whole. I don’t like when departments are running multiple different manufacturers. Stick to one or two. Look at Chicago…E-One, HME, Pierce, Seagrave, American LaFrance, Rosenbauer, Spartan and I’m probably missing one or two. So ridiculous!
