Is it me or is that pickup truck new too.

Forest Parks truck is usually manned by 1 driver only. The engine jumps over to take it when the Truck goes out of town. Very very seldom will it have 2 or 3 on it.

Mike…. I don’t know it all.. But unlike you I don’t post my so called insight on every subject that the webmasters post here.

Ffpm I didn’t know you were the token fire service know it all. Talk to the guys in NR. They even say they didn’t need to buy this. The old truck was OOS for a while and they made do. They have 4 guys a day that’s it. 1 engine company. The medics are medics and don’t do suppression. For a town that is crying poor they seem to have money for other things. So once again Thank You For Your Know It All Service. I will sleep better today now.

Mike,
Does North Riverside pay your salary? Do you or your family live there? Do you pay your taxes to the municipality? If you’ve answered no to all these questions then why do you care? Does it really bother you that bad that they bought a new tower? Every vehicle in the picture looks new, does that bother you too? Stop making this the complaint department, worry about the things that you have control over. If someone wants to post a picture of a towns new rig, let them and keep your comments off of here.

So you guys won’t allow people to voice opinions on this, but it’s ok for people to cry about what color light comes on a vehicle? As far as living there, working there or whatever. No, I don’t live there or work there but do shop there and have many friends on the department. As you know the village is trying to get rid of the firemen because they say they can’t afford them. So if you are saying you are having money problems why would you buy this? This is a public website and everyone is allowed their opinion and if you don’t like mine get over it.

Bill Post to answer your questions, Forest Park’s truck is always manned and responds to any in town fire call and any other special or box or better. On a still alarm in North Riverside, you get 4 on duty firefighters, plus 2 contract medics, an engine from Forest Park, an engine from Broadview, and a truck from Berwyn. I don’t know what North Riverside’s response will be when the new rig goes in service, the old truck has been out of service for some time. I must respectfully disagree with Mike, the old truck was used in town as well as out of town. The large retail area on the east end presents many challenges. Without thinking too hard there have been quite a few incidents in the retail area were the truck was “put to work”

So Mike how do they run things on fire alarms in North Riverside? Is the tower a jump company? If the fire is in town do they take the engine and if it’s out of town the truck? How many men are normally on duty? I know that it is a pretty small town and that Forest Park to the north also only has one fire station. Does North Riverside run with their truck on automatic aide into Forest Park or does Forest Park staff their truck? On a structure fire or still alarm in North Riverside, how many companies are dispatched and who responds with a truck? If they don’t run their truck in town it probably means that they only have enough people to staff the engine, correct? Do they at least have their own paramedics on the ambulance or are they contract medics like some other departments?

This truck is another waste of taxpayer money by north riversides elected officials. The truck is used for mutual aid only. Why buy that then. Let another department bring in their truck and send an engine instead. For what they paid for that rig they could have paid their pension debit off.
