This from Campbell Holinger:
Fire Service, Incorporated just posted this picture of Squad 7 in their shop on their FB page …really does look like they gutted it!
Makes me wonder if Squad 7 won’t be getting one of the new units after all. I can’t imagine them putting this much money into this current squad if they anticipate using it front line for a year or two at the most.

Since CFD is I dire straits with their squads (7 is running an ancient engine) I can’t see them rehabbing a squad to serve as a spare hazmat.

Is it possible it is being rehabbed to be used as the spare hazmat rig?

One of the Homer Township Pierce Engines is also on the Fire Service INC website being refurbished as well.

How long are they expecting the squad to be OOS? Any information on who will be building the new squads for the city? Something will have to be done as the current squads are really old.
Also does anyone have any idea if the city has put new Tower ladders in the purchase plan for this year?

I read something in the buying plan about 100 ft tower ladders. Not sure if it is for FD. I believe it was under shops?

I heard that it’s a complete rehab of the body and existing chassis

I wonder if it is getting a new chassis from E-one also?
#11 by Marty Coyne on March 10, 2015 - 2:39 PM
That or a remount as the old chassis was cracked last I heard

Looks like they’re gutting it for parts.

This could also be CFD getting the body ready for a re-mount on a new frame. Considering how long the new squads are taking to get completed, this would be a cost-effective and expedient solution to keeping the best units possible in service.
Also, Squad 7’s body likely does not have same wear and tear on it as the other squads do, so they could get away with a re-mount as long as the refurb is done well.
