The Rolling Meadows Fire Department …
responded to 2019 Martin Lane this morning and companies found a fully involved detached garage. They were able to get water on the fire and knock it down within minutes. Rolling Meadows Engines 15 and 16 were on the scene along with both ambulances, the 15th Battalion, and Squad 15. Mutual aid engines came from Palatine and the Palatine Rural Fire District, Arlington Heights came with an ambulance and a tower ladder, and the 7th Battalion from Palatine Rural was also on-scene.

The Glenview Fire Department …
received multiple calls reporting a fire in an attached garage at 1755 Monterey Court this afternoon. Engine 7 was the first unit on the scene and had heavy smoke filling the entire driveway plus coming out the front door. They took a line in the front door to hit the fire from inside the house while a second exterior line went up the driveway. All four Glenview engines, two ambulances, the truck, and Battalion 6 were on the scene with Morton Grove Engine 5, Prospect Heights Squad 9, and Northbrook Tower 12 mutual aid. Glenview companies made a quick stop and the mutual aid companies were released shortly after they arrived.

The house is odd, looking form the front there is no front door, the would be front door is on the east side of the house and behind a six foot wooden gate that makes it impossible to see from the front. The rear door facing the garage cannot be seen from the street. Not sure why the homeowners did not self extricate. Rolling Meadows has 14 per shift with up to three off leaving minimum manning at 11. 1-Bat 15 3-e15 3-e16 2-a16 2-a15 when two additional people are on the squad is manned which is also re15. RMFD at one time used the the hazmat vehicle as Squad 15 but Has been reassigned as Hazmat 15 for the CAD and they use re15 (Darley) as the squad.

I’m a bit confused. It’s a detached with no communication, only minor heat damage according to reports. Couldn’t they just walk out the front door? was there other issues? Just curios why they had to go through a window….

We have the best public service here in Rolling Meadows which was evident yesterday. Fire, Police, and Public Works are some of the best in the Northern Suburbs. The pub works guys are always on the streets and are willing to stop and listen to the citizens and as of yesterday, put their lives on the line too. Great job guys! Nice photos too! Does anyone know if Squad 15 is always in service or just if extra man power exists? Thanks.

No mention of first responders City of Rolling Meadows Public Works employees pulling 4 residents out of house through window and safely accross the street before police or fire arrived on scene???????
