Mundelein firefighters responded to a house explosion this afternoon at 918 Killarney Pass Drive, just a few blocks from Mundelein Fire Station 1. Upon arrival they had a well-involved fire in a split-level house.

One person is confirmed dead from a Mundelein house explosion and fire that occurred on the village’s north side shortly before noon Friday. Lake County Deputy Coroner Orlando Portillo said in addition to the fatality, a person who was in the house was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
