Joliet Fire Department news

Excerpts from the herald-news.com:

The Joliet Fire Department on Jan. 1 will begin charging fees for services provided at fires, car accidents, and hazardous material incidents. The city council approved a contract with Fire Recovery USA, which will collect the money that is expected to total between $100,000 and $150,000 a year. Insurance companies will be billed for the services, and Joliet residents will not be required to pay any amounts not covered by insurance. There is an exception for incidents caused by reckless behavior. Out-of-towners, however, will be billed for any amounts not covered by insurance. The fees range from $594 for a Level One response to a car accident, which includes hazardous materials assessment and scene stabilization, to more than $6,700 for a top-level response to a hazardous material incident. Fires will be billed at $455 an hour per engine on the scene and $568 an hour per truck on the scene.

House fire in Joliet, 6-7-20

This from Jim Skrabel:

Here are a few pictures from a fire on Joliet’s west side this morning (6/7/20). The fire was in the 2100 block of Wesmere Lakes Drive. It appears the fire was in the attached garage and spread to the attic. Engine 9 (using spare 19) Truck 9 (using spare 19 staffed again?) were first due. A total of three lines were used and the roof was opened. Also on scene were Engine 8, Engine 7, Engine 10, Battalion 2, and a few ambulances. Crews did a great job with a quick knock of the fire.

Joliet Fire Department news

Excerpts from wjol.com:

The Joliet Fire Department is receiving $200,000 from the state loan program for new equipment.

The Ambulance Revolving Loan is designed to assist departments or cities in purchasing emergency equipment they may not be able to otherwise afford. It is administered by the Illinois State Fire Marshal and Illinois Finance Authority. Under the ARLP program, units of local government like municipalities, townships, fire departments, fire protection districts and certain categories of not-for-profit organizations can apply for no-interest or low-interest loans of up to $200,000 to spend on equipment. These loans must be repaid in 10 years.
