Excerpts from the City of Evanston:
On Thursday, January 14, at 1:07 pm, Evanston firefighters responded to the 300 block of Dempster Street for the report of an automatic fire alarm in a residential multi-story structure.
First arriving companies encountered moderate smoke and fire conditions on the third floor. Due to a quick and aggressive offensive attack plus fire sprinkler activation, the fire was extinguished and contained to the unit of origin approximately 10 minutes after crews arrived on scene.
One middle-aged female was found unresponsive in the apartment, pulseless and non-breathing. Fire crews removed the victim to safety and began resuscitative efforts on scene. En route to a local area hospital, paramedics were successful in resuscitating her. The patient is currently in the intensive care unit.
Additional equipment from neighboring municipalities assisted the City of Evanston provide station coverage while EFD units battled the blaze.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

From the Evanston FD Facebook page:
A preliminary drawing of what our new Engine Co. 22 is going to look like. The final specification is currently being worked on by Pierce and we should have the updated rendering shortly. A few minor modifications to this drawing but nothing major. We are looking to take delivery in October. A great THANK YOU to all of the citizens, city staff and city council for your continued support!

This from Steve Redick:
Evanston Box Alarm at 635 Sherman Avenue. Three-story, multi-family apartment building. Looks like whatever rig has spare Engine 25 dropped a big supply line down the alley and gave it a good whack with the deck gun. Fire was blowing out the 2nd floor rear and got the porches going and communicated to an exposure building from what I could see from the remnants. I also notice a big solar panel array on the roof that must have made venting very difficult. The positioning of the aerial through the trees was well done. This was also my first view of the new Skokie tower. All the images and a brief video can be seen here
