Join hundreds of members from the fire service and beyond at the 76th annual Fire Prevention Week Luncheon, presented by the Illinois Fire Sprinkler Coalition.  The event is scheduled on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Bobak’s Signature Events in Woodridge, IL.

The Fire Prevention Week Luncheon includes a guest presenter, gourmet lunch, and networking opportunities. The event also highlights and honors those who have gone above and beyond in fire safety and burn prevention, as each year the IFSA receives nominations and presents awards for various categories.

Since the 1960’s, the engineering and science communities have made significant gains in understanding how fire interacts with people and structures. During this same period, building construction methods, materials used within homes, and the available residential fire protection options have changed dramatically.  What do these changes mean for building occupants? What do these changes mean for the fire service? Underwriters’ Laboratories has been at the forefront of conducting research to examine how these changes impact each other. The luncheon’s presentation will provide information, for both building occupants and firefighters, to improve their ability to limit the adverse effects from an unwanted fire.

The Fire Prevention Week Luncheon’s presenter is Daniel Madrzykowski, a research engineer with the UL Firefighter Safety Research Institute. He has a MS in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of MD and more than 30 years of research experience aimed at improving fire safety.
