This from Tim Olk:

Chicago companies responded to a Still Alarm at 1240 E 83rd Street.  Theyreported smoke on arrival and the Englewood Fire Alarm Office filled out a Full Still for the working fire. Batt 23 arrived and gave asize up of a 2-story ordinary with  fire on the second floor and 2 lines on the fire. One line was onthe first floor and the other was on the second with the truck opening the roof. Batt 23 came back and said all companies were defensive due to heavy fire throughthe roof and throughout the second floor. There were no injuries and the second floor was occupied. They were rehabbing the first floor.

Box alarm fire in Chicago, 5-14-16

This from Eric Haak:

Here are some images of a fire that Chicago had at 118th and Halsted at 0900 hrs on Saturday morning (5/14).  There was heavy fire from the 2.5-story frame on arrival and the fire was boxed within a minute of the first companies landing.  These views were taken over a half hour in.  Most of the fire was knocked down but I did get an opportunity to shoot the newly numbered Tower Ladder 34.  Lighting and rig positioning were not optimal but good enough.  It had also been a while since I had seen Engine 115 who are now apparently in a newly numbered spare.  You can see the numbering on 115’s door is not nearly as big as a normal rig.  Don’t know how long they have been in D588.

Chicago 2-11 Alarm commercial fire, 1-17-14

Chicago had a 2-11 Alarm fire overnight at 75th & King Drive.

From the Chicago Tribune:

The fire in the Dollar & Up store, at the southwest corner of East 75th Street and South Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, was reported at 12:12 a.m., Chicago Fire Department District Chief Tim Sampey said. Firefighters found a “heavy volume of fire” in the store and elevated it to a 2-11 alarm as they worked to keep it from spreading to an adjacent business, Sampey said.

After learning that no one was believed to be inside, firefighters fought in defensive mode, attacking the fire from the outside of the building.

Firefighters kept the flames from spreading to the adjacent Cricket store and extinguished the blaze at 1:30 a.m.
