In regards to S4 not that I’m aware of. I know years ago they had talked about refurbing it but I don’t think it ever happened. I know they have a new chief so I’m thinking at some point E5 and S4 will be replaced.

Are they replacing S4 anytime soon?

Replacing the ladder is not needed. Niles Tower 2 is auto aid on fire calls. This has been in place for over 30 years and the two villages work well together. As backup on the mutual aid side Skokie Tower 16 and Truck 18 will come in.
As far as I know Q4 2006 Spartan/Smeal 75ft will go into reserve and they will get rid of E4R 1999 Pierce Saber.
The two remaining fire vehicles are
E5 2015 Spartan/Smeal
S4 1993 Pierce Arrow HDR no pump or tank, and has an onboard air cascade that is used often. Which is cross maned with either A4 or E4.

Does anyone know what the logic behind Morton groves decision to no longer have a ladder in their fleet? Nice looking engine but I don’t know why they would not replace an aerial apparatus that they already have.

I have no preference on the blackout features but I personally don’t think it brings much value in most circumstances. I like front bumpers sprayed with Linex since they get so hot in the summer. Other than that, I’m not sure there is much value to most of the blackout.

I was at station 4 a couple of weeks ago looking at this engine before it was all set up. Kinda sad that the quint is getting replaced.

Looks pretty sharp. So how are the likes of the EMAX and PUC designs working out now that they have been around for while? Looks like they still have to take the blue tape off of the Q.

This blackout stuff is getting ludicrous.
