Anyone know what’s wrong with the new truck? They’re still running the old Pierce.

You are correct Mike C, it is a beautiful truck….
I made a mistake as Harry said “as i have said b4 punction is not important”… Harry “punction”, actually means a puncture or prick…. These are very important in the Fire Service, just ask any Paramedic….
Now… maybe we can debate how fire departments should use Wisconsin Ducks for water rescues… like they do in Palm Springs Beach ????

Pretty sad and pathetic that we have to debate about the importance of punctuation. I can’t even make out what Hairy is saying half the time due to his lack of punctuation. If “punctuation is not important”, why have we been taught it in school for multiple generations?
I have lost all credibility for Hairy. Nothing but a joke!
On another note, this Seagrave tower is beautiful!

Harry… please… Punctuation does more than you might think to writing: it changes pace of reading, it offers sentence complexity and variety, and, probably most important, it clarifies meaning. But when you get punctuation wrong, you risk more than just having clunky sentences or a slightly confusing sentence. The reality is, you may completely change the meaning of the entire sentence.
If you want respect… take the time to write out you comment in Word and do spellcheck… it will also look at punctuation 😉
If you went to school at Dist. 84 and East Leyden.. you are doing a disservice to those teachers and alum.. like myself with this less than stellar use of the English language….

The fact that Lockports 2008 tower didn’t hold up well is a little peculiar. It was a non quint straight tower so the wear and tear should have been less. The frame rust and torque box rust is what it is. Did they UL test every year? I don’t know, and many depts. don’t. Orland had a 2008 Pierce tower also, a quint on an Arrow XT (not a Dash like Lockport).
It had a 1500 pump, 400 tank on it and they ran the wheels off of it (should have been close to 100,000 miles on it when it was sold). It’s still on the road in Pontiac, IL Fire Dept.

The biodegradable Pierce tower was built in 2008. What’s crazy about this is that Lockport has a rigorous maintenance program to keep their apparatus in good working order and the Pierce still fell apart. The Pierce ladder Lockport is currently using was built in 1999.
It would sure be nice if Hairy contributed wealth and knowledge to this group. His grammar is often times so poor, I can’t even make out what he’s saying.

Looks great and will function even better. I just saw their previous truck did not look very old. Anyone know the age of the previous truck or why it went away? I know of other communities with Pierce equipment that frame rail rot created a much shorter lifespan.

Very nice looking SEAGRAVE there. Looks to be well packaged and no nonsense.

Top notch!
This truck replaces a biodegradable Pierce tower that only lasted a short time. Pierce never stood behind their inferior product.

Hope are working replacing eng. 1,4,5. Then they would have all front line seagraves.
