Robbins already has a private ambulance (Bud’s, same as Harvey and Phoenix) running their EMS. They got that ambulance donated to them from Orland about 3 1/2 years ago and haven’t been able to get a transport program off the ground. They use it to chase Bud’s ambulance.

Correction to my comment if you watch the video over again you’ll see the ambo parked behind the HME

I saw robbins ambo about a month to a month and a half ago at walsh’s towing on 111th and central getting serviced. They could be getting rid of the ambo and transferring to a contract service like Phoenix or Harvey.

Just saw a video, on the Robbins Facebook page, from two days ago.
The tower ladder is in quarters there. Looks like it is parked in the middle bay. The HME engine & the Pierce engine are on either side of it. Did not see the frontline ambulance anywhere.
Doesn’t look like it is in service yet. No graphics or lettering.

The other Tower they had wasn’t trashed. It had damage to the basket but when it was sold to a department in Canada and was repaired and placed in service frontline. As for the “ new “ tower fitting in the firehouse, it actually has more room than it looks. There’s 2 spots in the back Bay Area that can hold 2 rigs with plenty of room for the tower in one bay and another engine in the other. We will all know in a few months once it’s in service.

The unmarked ambo isn’t a problem it’s just parked outback And I’m not sure that either of the engines (Especially the Pierce) will fit behind the ambo.

Their old tower was a 2006 and was trashed due to a lack of preventative maintenance. Additionally, it was damaged on the rear end as a result of backing into the building numerous times. There are many different folks there now. Hopefully this rig will serve them well.

They are going to have to get rid of something. They have three engines–the old Ford, the HME & a Pierce. They also have a BLS ambulance that they got from Orland a few years back. There is also an unmarked ambulance there too.
Without making too many assumptions, I would think the old Ford (2923) would go & maybe the unmarked ambo (off at least move them offsite). Probably would have to shift either 2943 (HME) or 2993 (Pierce) to behind the ambulance. That is, if they keep everything & park the tower in the middle bay.

What happened to their old tower? What year was that one?

the problem with this is the bays are completely full the middle bay were the tower used to be is full and the only bay that could accommodate a tower ladder and has 2 engines in it the HME and the ford. so they would have to put the ford somewhere else and move one of the engine somewhere else.

While I believe I understand why Robbins is getting this rig, I question the logic.
Robbins has several “target hazard” assisted living/senior living facilities, along with some type of an industrial plant, in their district, which makes this donation practical.
The two issues are: 1-This will be (once in service) the seventh Div. 22 department with either a tower ladder or straight stick aerial/quint in their fleet; 2-Robbins, like most every other department in that area, has staffing issues. How often will this rig go out if you don’t have enough personnel to get it out consistently?
Curious to know what Robbins is getting rid of to make room for that rig in their station?
Again, I still think it’s a great move, on the part of Rosemont, to donate that tower to Robbins. For a nearly 30-year old rig, it looks to still be in decent shape & well maintained. It should serve them well.
