McHenry Township Fire District news

This from Michael Maida:

I attended the McHenry Township Fire District Station 5 grand opening. The station will have a engine, ambulance, brush truck, and two trailers. The engine is a 2009 Pierce. There will be 5 firefighters/paramedics on duty at a time. I had the opportunity to witness the flag raising ceremony and the engine backing into quarters. The neat thing with this station is whenever they get a call, there are red LED light strips in the ceilings that light up for 90 seconds.

Engine 42 was also at the open house, I was able to stop by station 1 and get a picture of the new Ambulance 51,

While I was at the open house, Engine 42 responded to a EMS run. I was told they receive around 5,000 calls a year and 80% are EMS.

Station 1 runs a 3 person engine and a 2 person ambulance and has the shift commander. they also have the dive rig, boats and truck out of this station
Station 2 runs a 3 person engine and a 2 person ambulance
Station 3 is a 3 person jump company
Station 4 runs a 3 person engine and 2 person ambulance
Station 5 runs a 3 person engine and a 2 person ambulance

I’ve heard from personal there that they may be going to all jump companies soon

Station #1 – 7 personnel (E41 – 3 personnel / A51 – 3 personnel / Battalion 12)
Station #2 – 3 personnel jump company (Engine / Tanker / Brush / Ambulance)
Station #3 – 3 personnel jump company (Engine / Tanker / Ambulance)
Station #4 – 3 personnel jump company (Engine / Tanker / Ambulance)
Station #5 – 3 personnel jump company (Engine / Brush / Ambulance)
Total personnel on duty = 19

What is their current staffing? What is their station staffing? Jump companies?

That is an amazing department. They are progressive and very well trained. Explosive growth in the area. I am a firefighter out of state now, but grew up in Johnsburg and have several friends who are active and retired members. Very strong group.
