This from Eric Haak:
The Chicago Fire Department responded to this fire in the 1900 Block of West Devon at 0330 on Sunday morning (2/15/15). It was eventually elevated to a still and box alarm and companies went defensive. What you can’t see in the images is that the building was a t-shape and had a fairly large extension off the back of the building. Police did rescue one resident who was transported to a local hospital. Temperatures were around zero degrees causing everything in the vicinity to ice over. I took the opportunity to take some images of a few engine companies I don’t often get to shoot.

The body that was found is still unidentified and at the county morgue. I believe that we may know him. Did your friend Mark England ever show up

Mark England’s funeral was August 24th so I am assuming his body had been identified and released to his family. So no he never showed up. If you know something different please let me know. You can go to Kohn Funeral home website and see the funeral arrangements that were made for Mark
Thank you,

I don’t know where else to turn. The man who died in this fire we believe is our friend Mark England. He was deaf and did not have very many local friends or local family. I live in California and have tried numerous places to get an official name of the victim. I know it is his building, his apartment and he is missing. I’m not sure anyone is even truly looking for him so if I don’t maybe no one will. I’ve contacted the local news/fire/police and the Medical Examiners office but no news yet.
Please help me if you can. We miss him a lot.

looks like that was a tough job. extreme weather, fire probably had a good start at 0300. a lot of building construction things to consider. brick face over old wood frame, rehabbed multiple times, change of occupancy,, store front to residential. exposure building shows slight damage , a good stop !
