Today was the FIre Engine Rally & Firematic Swap Meet co-sponsored by the 5-11 Club of Chicago & The Fire Buffs of Illinois at the Chicago Fire Academy. Several private collectors brought apparatus and several pieces of apparatus from the CFD were on hand for visitors. Several vendors had goods for sale and a special treat for many was a visit by an FDNY Seagrave engine that was en route to be delivered in New York City.
Another treat was seeing three engines used to supply water to the old CFD water tower as it flowed three master streams.
Tomorrow, photos from the event will be posted.

Will there be a muster this year, 2013, and if “yes”, when will it be held. I was there several years ago, and it was fantastic, especially the water tower. A nice guy named “Denny” was in charge of setting it up. Any chance there will be a manually operated “crank up” aerial ladder truck there this year? Does anyone know somebody who has one of them in the Chicago area that I could look at and film it being operated? Thanks! David Spain

Has a date for 2012 been set? Who runs the Fire Buffs web page? It could use some updating! I know it is a lot of work but it is now a great way to communicate with visitors and truck owners. Thanks

Are the dates set, yet, for the Chicago Fire Muster at the Academy? I’d love to bring “Worthington Engine One” again this year. Loved it last year.
