Good looking units. One of the rare all red Fire Dept.s left these days. I like them.

Harry many departments are on a 5 year cycle for ambulances since they run the most. 5 year front line, 5 year reserve and then when they are 10 years old they get a better return on the sale of a 10 year old rig,

They are able to purchase new equipment because Chief MacIsaac (retired) set up the department for success. He was adamant on setting up a vehicle replacement program where the village saved money every year in anticipation of the equipment getting used and abused. The advantage to the taxpayers is that the Village always had cash on hand to pay for each unit outright. They never had to finance the truck. Same goes for the new fire stations. And he passed down that philosophy to the members and to the Village Trustees. That is the reason they are able to afford nice equipment. Also, Wheeling has an impeccable Maintenance Team that stays ahead of the problems with the vehicles. They are maintained very well.
